Privacy Policy

1. Overview

PackWise ("we", "our", or "the app") is a travel packing assistant developed by Ievgenii Sazonov (Poltava, Ukraine). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

2. Information We Collect

A) Sign In with Apple (optional)
If you choose to sign in with Apple, we receive your email address and a unique Apple User ID. These are used solely to identify your account across sessions. You can use PackWise without signing in.

B) Purchase Information
If you subscribe to PackWise Pro, our subscription provider RevenueCat processes your subscription status on our behalf. This includes a device identifier and your App Store / Google Play purchase history. We do not receive or store your payment details — these are handled directly by Apple or Google.

C) Trip Information
When you create a packing list, the trip parameters you enter (country, city, travel dates, group composition, travel style, luggage type, special needs, and language) are sent to our servers and to an AI service (Anthropic Claude) to generate a personalized list. These requests are anonymous — no email, name, or account identifier is attached.

D) Feedback
If you use the "Send feedback to developers" form, the text and optional name you provide are sent to our servers for our internal review. Feedback is not published publicly and is not shared with other users.

3. Information Stored Locally

The following data is stored only on your device using local storage (AsyncStorage) and never leaves it unless you explicitly share or export:

• Your packing lists and edits
• Trip history
• App preferences (dark/light mode, language)
• Trial period start date
• Scheduled reminder settings

4. Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not request or access your GPS / precise location
• We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera
• We do not track you across other apps or websites
• We do not sell or share your data with advertisers
• We do not use any third-party advertising SDKs
• We do not use analytics tools that profile individual users

5. Third-Party Services

PackWise relies on the following third-party services:

• Anthropic (Claude AI) — processes anonymized trip parameters to generate packing lists. https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy

• RevenueCat — manages subscription status and entitlements. https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy/

• Apple Sign In — authentication (only if you choose to sign in). https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/

• Unsplash — provides destination photos via public API. No personal data is shared.

• Apple App Store / Google Play — payment processing for subscriptions.

6. AI-Generated Content

PackWise uses Anthropic Claude to generate packing lists, destination facts, and cultural tips. AI-generated content is for informational purposes only. Always verify important travel requirements (visas, vaccinations, customs regulations, safety advice) with official sources before your trip.

7. Subscriptions & Payments

PackWise offers a 7-day free trial followed by a paid subscription (Monthly, Yearly, or Lifetime). All payment processing is handled securely by Apple App Store or Google Play. PackWise does not collect or store any payment information. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings.

8. Data Retention

• Apple Sign In data (email, user ID) is retained as long as your account is active.
• Purchase data is retained as required by Apple, Google, and applicable tax law.
• Trip parameters sent to our AI service are not stored in a form linked to your identity.
• Feedback submissions are retained for internal review and product improvement.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your data
• Withdraw consent (by deleting your account in the app or uninstalling)
• Export or receive a copy of your data
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

Account deletion: you can delete your account and associated server-side data directly inside the app (Settings → Delete Account) or by emailing packwiseapp@gmail.com. Deletion requests are processed within 30 days.

10. Data Security

We use industry-standard HTTPS encryption for all communication between the app and our servers. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children's Privacy

PackWise is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us at packwiseapp@gmail.com and we will delete it.

12. International Data Transfers

PackWise is operated from Ukraine. By using the app, you consent to the transfer and processing of your data in Ukraine and in the countries where our service providers operate (including the United States for Anthropic, RevenueCat, and Apple). We apply appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected with an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
